THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE LIBRAS TRANSLATOR/INTERPRETER ON THE INCLUSION OF DEAF PEOPLE IN A REGULAR SCHOOL IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF JEQUIÉ-BA

Abstract

The inclusion of deaf students in mainstream schools is already a reality in Brazil. The aim of this work is to understand the extent to which the work of Libras Translators/Interpreters has contributed to these students actually being included in inclusive schools in the city of Jequié-Ba. To this end, we sought to reflect on the role of the main members of the school community directly involved in Inclusive Education, identify the main difficulties encountered in this process and finally seek possible solutions for them based on individual experiences that have been successful. This is descriptive research with a qualitative approach and consists of analysis and discussion based on interviews with professional Libras Translators/Interpreters working in the city of Jequié-Ba. This study will serve as a basis for guiding the actions of future Translators/Interpreters in the area of Inclusive Education, as well as teachers of deaf students, in order to find the necessary measures to encourage the construction of knowledge for deaf students, making them feel effectively included in the school they attend.
