Introduction: This project studies the cause and effect regarding the use of botulinum toxin in aesthetic procedures, limited to low-dose treatments, usually facial ones. This study addresses and demonstrates the reasons why a secondary immune response occurs and its main causes. This secondary immunological response to the use of botulinum toxin type A (BTA) leads to rejection, resulting in patient dissatisfaction with the procedure. Methodology: It is based on scientific articles published between 2015 and 2025, addressing aspects such as knowledge about botulinum toxin type A, immunoresistance, secondary nonresponse, and complexing proteins. Results: This study seeks to contribute to the understanding of the factors that trigger immunoresistance and to identify the measures that should be taken for prevention, allowing the treatment with BTA to remain effective. Conclusion: At the end of the research, the importance of proper management of the toxin is emphasized, which must be performed only by a qualified professional, since, by using the correct techniques, it is possible to avoid undesirable effects in daily clinical practice with the patient. Proper handling and application will ensure the patient’s safety and satisfaction.
