FOLK DANCE AT SCHOOL: ART AS AN ELEMENT OF TRANSFORMATION

The work carried out at the Prof.ª Ondina de Paula Ribeiro State School, in Manaus-Amazonas, highlighted popular culture in the art of dance, encouraging folklore and its cultural expressions, in the school, in the community, as a way of socializing artistic variations in the development of new expressions by students and residents in the vicinity of the school. The object was primary and secondary school students, with the aim of broadening cultural and social characteristics in the pedagogical form of knowledge and artistic making. In this way, encouraging the creation of a dance center at the school. Methodologically, we see an explanatory action of theoretical and practical activities, defending and developing the knowledge and traditions of popular culture. Therefore, contributing to a perspective of cultural and traditional identification in the community. The research used three forms of folk dance from Manaus: Ciranda, Dança do Cacetinho and Dança Afro-Brasileira. The central contribution was to deepen the appreciation of field research as a guide to the internal aspects of each dance, as well as its variations in historicity, tradition and values, through practical body culture classes and re-reading in the artistic composition of the dances, fundamental elements of Brazilian identity in the awareness of students and teacher training.
