Abstract

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterized by motor impairments such as tremor, muscle rigidity, and bradykinesia, which significantly compromise patients’ quality of life. Given the limitations associated with conventional therapies, medical cannabis has been explored as a potential complementary treatment approach. This study aimed to evaluate scientific evidence regarding the use of Cannabis sativa, with emphasis on cannabidiol (CBD), in the management of muscle rigidity and tremors in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. An integrative literature review with a qualitative approach was conducted, based on searches performed in PubMed, SciELO, LILACS, and Google Scholar, including studies published between 2020 and 2025. The findings suggest that phytocannabinoids may exert therapeutic effects through interaction with the endocannabinoid system, contributing to improvements in both motor and non-motor symptoms. However, the methodological heterogeneity observed among the studies highlights the need for more robust research to support its clinical applicability.
