LASERTERAPIA NA ODONTOLOGIA HOSPITALAR: APLICAÇÕES E CONTRIBUIÇÕES PARA O CUIDADO AO PACIENTE

A laserterapia, especialmente por meio da fotobiomodulação, tem sido investigada como recurso complementar na assistência odontológica hospitalar, particularmente no manejo de alterações da cavidade oral associadas a tratamentos antineoplásicos e a diferentes condições clínicas. Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar as aplicações e as contribuições da laserterapia para o cuidado odontológico de pacientes hospitalizados, com ênfase na prevenção e no manejo da mucosite oral, controle da dor e reparação tecidual. Trata-se de uma revisão narrativa da literatura, realizada a partir da consulta a bases de dados nacionais e internacionais, utilizando descritores relacionados à Odontologia Hospitalar, laserterapia, fotobiomodulação, mucosite oral e pacientes hospitalizados. A literatura analisada demonstra resultados favoráveis da fotobiomodulação, especialmente na prevenção e no manejo da mucosite oral relacionada a determinados tratamentos oncológicos, além de possíveis benefícios sobre dor, inflamação e reparação tecidual. Entretanto, foram identificadas diferenças relevantes entre os protocolos empregados, incluindo parâmetros de aplicação, características das populações estudadas e desfechos avaliados, o que limita a comparação direta entre os estudos. Conclui-se que a fotobiomodulação constitui uma ferramenta terapêutica complementar com potencial de contribuir para a assistência odontológica hospitalar, desde que sua utilização seja baseada em evidências, individualizada e integrada às demais estratégias de cuidado. A atuação do cirurgião-dentista e a integração multiprofissional são fundamentais para a indicação adequada, acompanhamento clínico e utilização segura desse recurso.
