Abstract

Implantology is an area that rehabilitates patients through the installation of osseointegrated implants. In cases of severe maxillary atrophy, other approaches should be used, such as the use of transnasal implants for anterior maxillary rehabilitation. The objective of this study was to perform an integrative review of the literature on transnasal implants, elucidating their instructions, effectiveness, predictions and survival of this implant, and the aesthetic and masticatory functions. This study was carried out by reading and analyzing journals published in the PubMed and Embase databases between 2005 and 2025. The term searched in both databases was: “transnasal implants”, and a total of 14 results were found in PubMed, while 37 results were found in Embase. After the selection stages and application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 6 articles were included. As a result, it was found in the literature that trans-nasal implants are safe, effective and predictable for the anterior rehabilitation of atrophic maxillae when associated with pterygoid or zygomatic implants, with a minimum number of failures and bone resorption reported in the literature, thus ensuring greater stability and safety in aesthetics, speech and chewing.
