This paper analyzes the work La casa de Bernarda Alba (1936) by Federico García Lorca, based on the symbolic and linguistic aspects of his style present in the work. The analytical corpus will be the edition of that year (1985). Thus, it was delimited by the following theme: the presence of dialogues full of symbols and metaphors. The approach is qualitative and bibliographical as indicated by Marconi and Lakatos (2003), theories on Reality and Symbols (Martinez, 1965), symbols and symbolism in Lorca's work by (Arango, 1995), Dictionary of Images, Symbols and Myths by (Ferreira, 2013), in addition to studies of the play La casa de Bernarda Alba (1936). Thus, we seek to demonstrate the presence of Lorca's symbology in the work. Its main arguments revolve around the combination of verse and prose, cultured elements, expression of feelings, approach to the popular, oppressive environments that limit the characters' freedom, female protagonists, simple and direct language, as well as the presence of symbols and metaphors of extraordinary plasticity, thus attributing to theater a professional role in social integration. Finally, the aim was to provide data on Lorca's theatrical style and its symbolism, thus leaving room for further research on Lorca's style.
