THE CINEMA AND EDUCATION PROGRAM AND ITS DIALOGIC RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE NATIONAL GUIDELINES FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION

Abstract

This article discusses the "Cinema and Education: The Cinema Experience in Basic Education" program, an initiative of the Campinas Municipal Government. The program aims to foster aesthetic experiences with cinema in municipal schools and to explore their connections to official documents—specifically the curriculum guidelines for Early Childhood Education, particularly the learning axes concerning interactions, play, and expressive languages such as art. These aesthetic experiences with cinema are legally grounded in SME Resolution 07/2016 (published March 28, 2016), with educators and students acting as the protagonists of the filmmaking process; notably, there is no hierarchy within the production process itself. It is important to highlight that all school-based cinema activities within the program are rooted in Migliorin’s (2014) perspective on cinema; consequently, the proposal involves using the school environment, its surroundings, and the stories of its protagonists as catalysts for filmmaking. The process is not intended for pedagogical assessment purposes but rather aims to provide opportunities to engage with cinema and its fundamental aspects.
