ELECTRICAL DESIGN OF A RURAL CASSAVA FLOUR PROCESSING FACILITY

Rural electrification plays a fundamental role in the development of family agro-industries, contributing to increased productivity, operational safety, and energy efficiency in production processes. In this context, the present study aimed to develop and analyze the electrical design of a cassava flour processing unit intended for small-scale production, considering the technical criteria established by ABNT NBR 5410:2004 and the standards required by the electric utility company. The adopted methodology included the survey of electrical loads for lighting systems, general-use outlets, and specific-use outlets, as well as the sizing of circuits, conductors, circuit breakers, and conduits required for the safe operation of the agro-industrial facility. The study also considered the electromechanical equipment used in cassava processing, such as graters, washing and peeling machines, vibrating sieves, and electric ovens. The results showed that the installation presents an electrical demand compatible with the power supply. The study also highlighted the importance of correctly applying technical standards related to electrical protection, grounding, and operational safety in rural agro-industrial environments. It is concluded that proper electrical design of cassava flour processing facilities significantly contributes to energy efficiency, operator safety, installation reliability, and the sustainability of family agro-industries.
