Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effects of cryolipolysis on the reduction of localized fat, verifying its benefits when used alone and in combination with other methods, as well as identifying its main advantages and disadvantages. This is an integrative review conducted between March and October 2025, with structured searches in the PubMed, PubMed Central, and SciELO databases. Articles from the last seventeen years, in full text, related to clinical reports and physiological mechanisms were included, excluding duplicates and studies with animals.

The results obtained from 15 studies demonstrated that cryolipolysis is an effective and safe procedure, capable of promoting an average reduction of 20% to 25% of the adipose layer by inducing apoptotic adipocytes, with high patient satisfaction and mild and transient adverse effects. The combination with electrolipolysis and other therapies proved promising, potentiating lipolysis and intensifying results in terms of body contour, firmness, and skin quality.

In conclusion, the study's objectives were achieved, demonstrating that cryolipolysis, alone or in combination, offers significant aesthetic results and establishes itself as a non-invasive alternative to liposuction. Despite variations in protocols and the duration of effects, the technique stands out for its safety and positive impact on self-esteem, reinforcing the importance of evidence-based aesthetic practices.
