This paper presents the results of a Scientific Initiation research project that investigated best practices related to environmental sustainability in micro and small businesses in the compounding pharmacy sector in the city of Indaiatuba, São Paulo, Brazil. Given the nature and specificity of the data, the case study approach was chosen as the methodological framework. Through a literature review and characterization of the studied case, the findings indicate a clear interest among the surveyed micro and small enterprises in adopting responsible environmental management practices aligned with sustainability and ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles. However, factors such as high financial investment and uncertainties regarding the return on these investments hinder the full achievement of this objective.
