This work analyzes the application of active methodologies in education, highlighting principles, benefits, and challenges for teachers and institutions. Active methodologies place the student as the protagonist in the learning process, allowing for greater autonomy, participation, reflection, and connection during this process. This research is qualitative and exploratory in nature, based on a systematic literature review of digital books, e-books, and articles from academic journals on active methodologies, teacher training, and student-centered practices. The data were organized into themes such as the fundamentals of active methodologies, student-centered practices, and institutional challenges. The results indicate that, despite the countless benefits of these methodologies, their implementation faces obstacles such as teacher resistance, limited teacher training, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of institutional support. We conclude that, for the success of active methodologies, investment in continuing education, engagement from school management, and public policies that encourage pedagogical innovation are essential, ensuring that education becomes more dynamic, inclusive, and connected to contemporary demands.
