Abstract

Field trips are an essential teaching methodology in Biological Sciences education, acting as a bridge between theoretical knowledge (classroom) and practical reality (natural or laboratory environment). This pedagogical resource offers students the opportunity to experience the object of study, promoting direct observation, data collection, and contextualized analysis. The visit to Embrapa Meio-Norte, in Teresina/PI, within the discipline of Methodology of Teaching Biological Sciences, aimed to experience this type of pedagogical practice. Embrapa is a leading institution in agricultural research, technological development, and innovation focused on sustainable agriculture and the strengthening of science in Brazil. The choice of this location is justified by the diversity of research developed, which makes it possible to relate Biology and Natural Sciences to themes such as biotechnology, ecology, environmental conservation, genetic improvement, and sustainability. This activity therefore represented an opportunity to broaden the students' academic training, while also stimulating reflection on the teacher's role in mediating innovative and contextualized teaching practices.
